Bern's Steak House Parking Garage
Tampa, Florida

Project consists of a 126,658 square foot, five-story parking garage for 345 cars.  It is located on a 2.342 acre site adjacent to the Leroy Selman Expressway on South Howard Avenue in south Tampa across the street from Bern's Steak House.  It is the first phase of a multi-phase development undertaken by Bern's Steak House, Inc.

The garage is a hybrid structure consisting of precast concrete columns, beams, and spandrel panels combined with cast in place post-tensioned 5" thick concrete decks.  All of the above ground structure is setting on 49 cast in place augured caissons extending approximately 55 feet below ground and 10 feet into the underground rock. The exterior of the garage is covered with ground face concrete block and EIFS.  Planters with confederate jasmine are incorporated into the second level along the Expressway side of the building.  These will vine up and down the west elevation. 

All of the construction was staged from the current parking lot for the restaurant which required that all construction materials and equipment be consolidated within the building footprint each night to allow customer parking for the restaurant.
